Moving to Denver from Houston and looking to get involved in law enforcement?

I'm planning on moving to Denver from Houston in a few months. I've lived here my whole life and now I'm tired of it. I'm currently in college but I want to get involved in law enforcement. If anyone knows about the PD in Denver, is it fairly easy to get in and are they in need for officers like in bigger cities?

  2. Yeah. Anyways: You'll have to take the state exam no matter where you apply. Shouldn't be too difficult. However, there has been a high amount of unemployment recently so I think this year recruitment may be a little tough. If you are not fixed on the city; Breckenridge PD needs cops in the worst way if you like the mountains. It's only 1.5 hours from Denver.
  3. Welcome, and congrats on your new career path. I've been with the department for 18 years and know a little about it. There are several phases of testing beginning with a written exam (general knowledge) they say it's not too tough, but some say it's hard. The other phases are a physical test, psych exam (900 questions of BS), oral interview, polygraph, medical screen, background check. **These are not in order** Is it easy to get on?? IDK, it seems that there are some who get on that have no business being cops but I guess it's that way in every department. We had a class graduate not too long ago, and they are in FTO right now. Here is a recruiting link. Check it out and good luck! Feel free to email me with any other questions. http://www.denvergov.org/Default.aspx?alias=www.denvergov.org/recruit
