How many more years does it take till gas prices become high enough for cars to become a luxury?

Had I asked when is it going to finish, you could have answered: Never, because there will always be a molecule of octane left somewhere on this planet. But I need to get the current estimates on how many more years does it take for private transportation based on gas to become a luxury.

1. It might be as soon as next summer because they are saying that the price of gas could be as high as $10.00 a gallon.
2. Now.If I were paying for fuel right now,I would give up medications,and electricity at my home.I have to drive 320 miles a week to work.
3. It is a luxury now - people just haven't learned to appreciate it yet.
