The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will conduct repairs on several sections of damaged guardrail along US Highway 160, east of Cortez, on Tuesday, July 29. The work will take place between Mile Points 40 and 44 from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., affecting the stretch between Cortez and Mancos.

During the repair period, motorists should anticipate delays of up to 15 minutes and expect alternating one-lane traffic guided by flaggers, cones, and signage. CDOT will reduce speed limits in the area to 40 miles per hour for safety. Work is scheduled to be completed within the day but may be delayed if weather conditions are unfavorable.

“Motorists are urged to slow down and use extreme caution when approaching and driving through the work zone,” CDOT stated.

Travelers are advised to plan for extra travel time due to expected delays. Real-time updates on road conditions can be found at COtrip.org.

A map showing the location of guardrail repairs is available through CDOT’s Travel Alert system. Motorists can check current highway impacts online before traveling.
