The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on April 14 that eastbound Interstate 70 is closed at Exit 205 in Silverthorne, just west of the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel, due to a severe multi-vehicle crash that occurred this afternoon. There is currently no estimated time for reopening.
Motorists traveling eastbound are being rerouted over Loveland Pass (US 6) to rejoin I-70 eastbound. Due to the severity of the crash, drivers approaching the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel should expect significant delays and may be turned around for several hours. Winter driving conditions have also been reported throughout the I-70 Mountain Corridor.
Travelers are advised to exercise caution and prepare for extended travel times. The Colorado Department of Transportation recommends checking current road conditions and real-time updates via COtrip.org or the COtrip Planner app before heading out.
