The Coleman Institute for Cognitive Disabilities announced on Mar. 12 that it is accepting proposals for its Technology Translational Research and Development Awards, which support University of Colorado faculty in developing technologies aimed at improving the quality of life for people with cognitive disabilities.
The awards are intended to help move applied research into commercially viable products or services that can benefit individuals living with or aging into cognitive disabilities, as well as their caregivers. The program is open to full- or part-time faculty members at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor from all four University of Colorado campuses.
Funding will be available in two phases: Phase I supports early-stage development with budgets up to $50,000, while Phase II supports later-stage development with budgets up to $100,000. Both phases aim to advance tangible tools, resources, hardware, software, or other technology-based strategies that improve quality of life across the lifespan for people with cognitive impairments. Priority will be given to projects based on user-informed research and those demonstrating a clear path toward market translation. Award recipients will have 12 months to use the funds.
