The Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) has announced that the pre-application period for the June round of emergency rental assistance will open on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. and close on Wednesday, June 11, at 5:00 p.m. The program is aimed at supporting Coloradans who are behind on rent, meet income requirements and other eligibility criteria, and are at risk of eviction or displacement.
According to DOLA, priority will be given to those facing eviction. The department emphasized its commitment to serving as many residents as possible in an equitable and efficient manner.
Once the pre-application window closes, all applicants will be entered into a random selection process. Those selected will receive an email invitation to complete a full application via an online portal within seven days. Eligibility must be confirmed and all required documentation submitted before the deadline for consideration.
“In the random selection process, the timing of submission does NOT impact an applicant’s chances of receiving rental assistance. For example, submitting a pre-application earlier in the application window does not increase the likelihood of receiving rental assistance. All eligible applicants who submit a pre-application by the deadline will be entered into the random selection process,” DOLA stated.
Coloradans seeking help with their applications or with questions about the process can contact the CARE Center by phone at (303) 838-1200 from Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time. The CARE Center offers support for completing emergency rental assistance applications and connects individuals with housing stability services such as eviction prevention support, housing counseling, landlord-tenant mediation, legal aid, and other resources tailored to individual needs.
DOLA encourages residents to reach out to learn more about available support options. More information about the pre-application process and frequently asked questions can be found on DOLA’s emergency rental assistance website.
