The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on April 13 that southbound Interstate 25 at Garden of the Gods Road in Colorado Springs will be fully closed overnight on Friday, April 17. The closure, which is scheduled from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., is necessary for bridge deck repairs and the replacement of expansion devices at both ends of the bridge.
The department said this work is needed to ensure safety for drivers and will involve reducing southbound I-25 to two lanes beginning at 7 p.m. before the full closure later in the evening. Detour routes will be in effect during this period, and motorists are advised to plan accordingly.
Additional closures are planned as part of ongoing maintenance efforts. A full overnight closure for northbound I-25 at Garden of the Gods Road is scheduled for May 1, followed by another full overnight closure for southbound I-25 on May 8. Advance notice and updates about these activities will be communicated to the public.
