The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will resume its Snowstang express bus service this weekend, marking the sixth year of operation. The service provides transportation for winter sports enthusiasts from the Front Range to four major ski destinations in Colorado.
Snowstang offers roundtrip routes every Saturday, Sunday, and on holiday Mondays through early May 2026. Destinations include Arapahoe Basin, the Town of Breckenridge and Breckenridge Ski Resort, Copper Mountain, and Loveland Ski Area. Service begins on Saturday, December 13 for most routes; Copper Mountain service starts a week later on December 20.
Passengers can board at Denver Union Station, Regional Transportation District’s Federal Center Station in Lakewood, or the Wooly Mammoth Park-n-Ride located at the I-70 – Morrison/Red Rocks interchange in Golden.
Roundtrip fares are set at $25. Discounts are available for seniors aged 65 and older as well as people with disabilities. Children between two and eleven years old can travel for $12.50 roundtrip when accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets are available online at RideBustang.com.
“There’s a good reason Snowstang is so popular,” said CDOT Executive Director Shoshana Lew. “It’s an affordable, convenient way for people to hit the slopes without the inconvenience of dealing with the traffic or weather. And you don’t have to worry about parking. Passengers get dropped off right by the ski lifts.”
Snowstang was launched in 2019 to address traffic congestion during peak periods and promote alternative transit options within mountain communities while also aiming to improve air quality across resort areas. Since its inception, more than 32,000 passengers have used Snowstang over five seasons.
“Snowstang is another way to help lessen traffic congestion and make our mountain highways safer and function more efficiently. If you’re taking Snowstang, that’s one less vehicle navigating our roadways, oftentimes during adverse weather conditions,” said Paul DesRocher, director of CDOT’s Division of Transit and Rail.
Each bus accommodates up to 51 passengers and features climate control systems along with luggage bays, Wi-Fi access, restrooms, USB ports, and power outlets.
Tickets and route information are available at RideSnowstang.com. A promotional discount code SNOW25 provides a 25% fare reduction for trips taken on December 13-14 and December 20-21.
Ace Express Coaches based in Golden operates Snowstang under contract with CDOT.
