The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Clean Fleet Enterprise has opened the application period for its Clean Fleet Vehicle and Technology Grant Program. Applications are being accepted from September 15 through October 24, 2025. The program is open to businesses, local governments, non-profits, schools, and other organizations that operate vehicle fleets.
Selected applicants will receive funding to replace gas or diesel fleet vehicles with low-emission and zero-emission alternatives. These options include vehicles powered by electricity, hydrogen, or recovered methane. The goal is to reduce air pollution in Colorado by encouraging a transition away from traditional fuel sources.
“Colorado is taking a multi-pronged approach to reduce emissions from transportation to protect the air we breathe. As part of this, I’m excited to continue supporting the grant program,” said CDPHE Senior Director of State Air Quality Programs Michael Ogletree. “Fleet operators who participate will reduce air pollution while saving money. We hope organizations in Colorado will recognize the many benefits of choosing to make the switch.”
Switching to low- and zero-emission vehicles can help decrease ozone pollution and address climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector. This effort supports Colorado’s Greenhouse Gas Pollution Reduction Roadmap targets.
In addition to environmental benefits, organizations may save on fuel and maintenance costs when using these types of vehicles. Guidelines for applicants are available on the program’s website.
This marks the third round of applications for this grant initiative. Project selections are expected in December 2025, with contracts likely starting in early 2026. Acquisitions made before contract execution will not be eligible for funding.
Organizations that have previously received grants may apply again if they seek additional funding for more fleet vehicles. The enterprise plans to reopen applications at least once per year through 2033 or as long as funds remain available.
Applicants might also consider applying for the Fleet Zero-Emission Resource Opportunity (Fleet-ZERO) Grant Program offered by the Colorado Energy Office, which provides support for electric vehicle charging infrastructure. That program is accepting standard applications from September 15 through October 17, 2025.
