The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has announced a series of public comment hearings and engagement opportunities for September. The PUC encourages participation from community members in its decision-making processes and values input from those who may be affected by the Commission’s actions.

Among the scheduled events is a public comment hearing on proposed rulemaking to amend Clean Heat Plan greenhouse gas reduction targets for gas utilities. This hearing is set for Thursday, September 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., or until concluded. The legislature has mandated that the PUC, in consultation with the Air Pollution Control Division of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, establish new emission reduction targets by December 1, 2025.

Another hearing will address proposed amendments to rail rules related to crossing maintenance cost allocation. This session is scheduled for Monday, September 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., or until concluded. More information about this proceeding can be found at https://puc.colorado.gov/puc-home/rail-transit/rail-safety-rulemaking.

A separate public comment hearing on changes to confidentiality rules for RTD Rail Fixed Guideway systems will take place on Monday, September 29, also from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., or until concluded.

The PUC’s 9-1-1 Services Enterprise Board meets every two weeks on Wednesdays, with meetings planned for September 3 and September 11 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition, the Commission offers an opportunity for public comment during its second weekly meeting each month. For September, this session will occur on Wednesday, September 10 at 9 a.m. Registration links will be posted in advance on the PUC Calendar.

All documents related to these proceedings are available through the Commission’s e-filings page.

Public comments can be submitted online using the Commission’s form, via email at dora_puc_website@state.co.us, by mail to the Colorado Public Utilities Commission office at 1560 Broadway, Suite 250, Denver, CO 80202, or by phone at (303) 869-3490 with options in English and Spanish. Information about upcoming hearings is available on the PUC Calendar or at https://puc.colorado.gov/puccalendar.

“The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is committed to informing and engaging the public in the matters before the Commission, and values perspectives from impacted community members, which is critical in decision-making.”
