In the first half of 2025, the Colorado State Housing Board approved over $68.4 million in funding to support the creation and preservation of 2,228 affordable homes across Colorado. The investment covers a range of housing needs, including rental units, homeownership opportunities, and supportive housing.

Of the total homes supported, 1,680 are designated as rental units. There are also 478 homeownership units funded, which include down payment assistance programs and preserved mobile homes. Additionally, 70 supportive housing units will be created for vulnerable populations.

Governor Jared Polis commented on the initiative: “We are expanding housing options for all Coloradans, and this funding is an important piece of our work. Over the last year, we have made progress to break through barriers that prevent new housing, eliminate burdensome and costly regulations and give Coloradans the freedom to live where they want to live. All of this work supports the efforts of our State Housing Board, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact in Colorado communities around the state.”

Maria De Cambra, Executive Director of the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA), said: “These investments help communities across Colorado address real housing needs by building new homes and preserving the ones people already live in. We’re proud to partner with local governments, housing authorities, nonprofits, and resident-led groups to make housing more affordable and accessible statewide.”

Among homeownership projects receiving support were Nueva Vida and 3 Mile Mobile Home Parks with a combined $3.775 million awarded for resident ownership preservation efforts involving 84 homes. Calvary Flats received $3.08 million while HousePAD Longmont was allocated $770,000; together these projects will create 92 new for-sale homes aimed at low- and moderate-income buyers. Down payment assistance programs in Longmont and Routt County are expected to serve at least 53 households.

Rental developments made up most awards with more than 1,600 affordable rental units funded statewide. Notable allocations included Eagle Villas in Eagle County receiving an additional $3.4 million for preserving or expanding 120 rental homes; Harvest Hill, Loretto Heights Family Apartments, and Creekside Flats collectively received $6.1 million for adding a total of 402 rental units across Broomfield, Denver, and Jefferson counties; Denver Dry Goods was awarded $5.3 million for a historic renovation project providing 106 affordable downtown Denver apartments.

Supportive housing initiatives also received attention from the board with more than $6 million directed toward homelessness prevention programs such as Chrysalis Apartments in Denver ($4.2 million) offering supportive residences for individuals exiting incarceration or facing unstable living situations; Next Step 2 Generation initiative secured over $2 million through partnership with Colorado Department of Education to aid families experiencing homelessness; tenancy support funds were distributed among other community organizations.

Community-driven solutions reached rural areas as well—Anvil Walsh Townhomes (San Juan County) and Chris Mountain Phase II (Archuleta County) were granted over $1.2 million combined for creating new homeownership opportunities in mountain towns; Swiss Village (Ouray County) along with River Village Mobile Home Park (Chaffee County) received more than $2.1 million together so residents could purchase or preserve their mobile parks; Pueblo’s Minor Repairs Program expanded its reach thanks to a $100,000 grant supporting urgent repairs for low-income homeowners.
