The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on April 9 that construction crews will begin concrete work on Colorado Highway 52 near Interstate 25 starting Monday, April 13. The project will cause lane closures and traffic shifts for several weeks as part of a larger resurfacing effort extending from I-25 to U.S. Highway 85.

The planned improvements are intended to enhance safety for travelers, provide a smoother driving surface, and increase the longevity of the highway. The project covers nine miles of CO 52 (Mile Points 11 to 20) and is expected to last about eight months, with completion anticipated in December.

Beginning at 5 a.m. on April 13, the westbound CO 52 left turn lane to Puritan Way will be closed for several weeks. Southbound Puritan Way from south of CO 52 to north of Reliance Drive will also be closed during this period. Eastbound drivers will not be able to turn right from CO 52 onto Puritan Way while this work is underway. Glacier Way, located west of Puritan Way, has been suggested as a detour route by officials. Northbound Puritan Way at CO 52 will remain open at the traffic signal.

The closures are required around-the-clock for crew and driver safety while concrete medians are modified at intersections. In addition to resurfacing travel lanes, turn lanes, and shoulders later in the spring, the project includes bridge repairs and guardrail upgrades.

General work hours are scheduled from Sunday night through Friday morning between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., with some daytime lane closures expected in April and early May near I-25. Weekend construction may occur as needed for timely completion.
