DC Comics has announced a partnership with Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA | TLC), a charity supported by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM Union). The collaboration will last for a year and aims to highlight the important role of service dogs in supporting people who are blind or visually impaired, veterans living with PTSD or traumatic brain injuries, children with autism, and public institutions.

The initiative builds on a previous collaboration at San Diego Comic-Con. This year, DC is sponsoring a litter of puppies that will be trained as guide and service dogs. In an unusual move, GDA | TLC allowed this group of puppies to be named after well-known DC characters. The new service dogs are named Krypto, Clark, Lois, Kara, and Lobo.

“Krypto – Inspired by Superman’s loyal Superdog, where good dogs and great heroes meet

Clark – Mild-mannered, kind-hearted, and guided by strong morals

Lois – Smart, fearless, and always determined

Kara – Powerful, courageous, and learning to harness incredible abilities

Lobo – Bold, fearless, and unforgettable”

After completing their initial training in puppy pre-kindergarten, these dogs will continue working with volunteer puppy raisers. They will learn skills necessary to help provide independence and support for those in need.

Fans can follow the progress of these puppies through events and updates on social media throughout the year. There will also be opportunities to meet the dogs in person at San Diego Comic-Con this July.
