The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on Apr. 23 that northbound Colorado Highway 157 (Foothills Parkway) will be fully closed between Valmont Road and Colorado Highway 119 throughout the upcoming weekend for concrete rehabilitation work.
This closure is intended to ensure the safety of both motorists and construction crews, while also minimizing disruptions to weekday commuters. The department said a single-lane closure will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Apr. 24, with a full roadway closure starting at 9 p.m., lasting until Monday morning at 7 a.m., Apr. 27.
During the closure, drivers traveling northbound on CO 157 will be rerouted west on Valmont Road, then north on 30th Street and east on CO 119 (Diagonal Highway). Eastbound motorists on Valmont Road seeking access to northbound CO 157 will be directed south on 47th Street, west on Pearl Street, north again on 30th Street and east onto CO 119. Westbound travelers will follow the same detour via 30th Street to CO 119. Southbound lanes of CO 157 will remain open during this period.
Motorists using these routes should expect delays of up to fifteen minutes and are encouraged to use alternate routes where possible over the weekend to avoid congestion. Flaggers and uniformed traffic control officers will be present to help manage traffic flow, and drivers are advised to slow down near work zones.
The Colorado Department of Transportation oversees transportation infrastructure across Colorado as outlined by its official website. The agency builds and maintains interstates, U.S. highways, state highways, and also administers grants for aviation and transit according to its official website. Shoshana Lew serves as executive director for the department as indicated by its official website.
