To move forward with the Interstate 25 and US Highway 50B Interchange project in Pueblo, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and SEMA Construction will conduct a series of overnight closures on I-25. These closures are necessary to safely demolish the current US 50B bridge over I-25.
Access at the interchange is currently limited to northbound I-25 on- and off-ramps until substantial completion of the project. Motorists are advised to use CO 47 for access between US 50B and I-25.
“Removal of the US 50B bridge over I-25 is integral to advancing the I-25/US 50B interchange project,” said CDOT Regional Transportation Director Shane Ferguson. “The closures are required to ensure the safety of work crews and the traveling public.”
Starting November 7, both northbound and southbound lanes of I-25 at Exit 100A will be closed nightly for demolition activities. Detours will be implemented during these hours. The construction schedule may change due to weather conditions; if delayed, work will shift to November 10 through November 14.
For southbound traffic, drivers should take Colorado Highway 47 (Exit 101), continue on CO 96, then use Santa Fe Avenue and 13th Street (Exit 99B) to return to southbound I-25. The southbound ramps at 29th Street will be closed; drivers should follow posted detours.
For northbound traffic, motorists should exit onto eastbound US 50B (Exit 100A) and use CO 47 (Exit 318) before rejoining northbound I-25.
The $114 million interchange project began in December 2024. Work includes building five new bridges, retaining walls, noise barriers, reconstructing roadways and ramps, embankment improvements, safety upgrades, drainage enhancements, and erosion control measures. Once finished, the new diverging diamond interchange will be located just north of the current site and aims to improve driving conditions for motorists. Completion is expected by early summer of 2027.
