The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Midwest Territory and District 77 marked the 25th anniversary of the Guide Dogs of America (GDA) Charity Golf Tournament, known as the John Massetti Memorial, in Minnesota. The event brought together fifty-six golfers and raised over $15,000 for Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines. More than $5,000 in raffle prizes were distributed during the day, supported by contributions from sponsors and supporters.

The annual tournament was first organized by John Massetti, a Local 1833 member who wanted to create a new way to raise funds for GDA beyond the motorcycle runs that were typical at the time. After his passing two decades ago, IAM District 77 and Local 1833 have continued organizing the event each year.

IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Sam Cicinelli expressed gratitude for those who participated: “I want to thank everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to come out and support Guide Dogs of America,” said Cicinelli. “It’s because of the dedication and hard work of our members, our retirees, and our volunteers that this event continues to be such a success.”

Andrew Peltier, Directing Business Representative for IAM District 77, highlighted the ongoing significance of the tournament: “This tournament is more than just a day on the golf course,” said Peltier. “It’s a powerful way to honor John Massetti’s legacy and make a real difference in the lives of those who rely on Guide Dogs of America. The commitment and generosity of everyone involved is truly inspiring.”

The John Massetti Memorial Golf Tournament has now run for 25 years, continuing its mission to support individuals who benefit from guide dogs and service dogs.
