The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Executive Council announced on April 9 that it is encouraging all Districts and Locals to support member participation in the upcoming 2026 Pride at Work Convention, scheduled for June 2-4 in Minneapolis.

The announcement highlights the union’s commitment to advancing equality, dignity, and respect for LGBTQIA+ workers. The Pride at Work organization is an AFL-CIO constituency group focused on promoting inclusion across workplaces, unions, and communities.

According to the statement, “Pride at Work’s mission reflects what we stand for as a union: building a labor movement that cherishes diversity, promotes inclusion and ensures safety and dignity for all.” The IAM emphasized its guiding principle that “an injury to one is an injury to all,” urging continued opposition to discrimination within its membership.

The IAM also noted ongoing initiatives such as the growth of Human Rights Committees throughout its Districts and Locals. These efforts aim to ensure every member feels welcomed, respected, and fully included within the union.

Credentialing for the convention will begin on June 1 at the Marquette Hotel. Members are advised to make hotel reservations by May 1 due to limited room availability. Early registration ends April 19. For more information or questions about participation, members are directed to contact IAM Human Rights Director Nicole Fears via email.

The statement concludes with encouragement: “When we show up, engage, and stand together, we build a stronger, more inclusive IAM Union and a more powerful labor movement for all working people.”
