Florida members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) gathered in Tallahassee for a five-day legislative conference organized by the IAM Florida State Council. The event brought together union members and retirees who met with state representatives and senators to discuss labor rights, wages, pensions, and Social Security.
Union leaders and activists at the conference highlighted their concerns about proposed legislation that could weaken collective bargaining rights and affect the financial security of workers. “Leaders and activists emphasize the importance of opposing anti-union legislation that threatens the collective bargaining power and financial stability of the working class.”
The participants engaged directly with lawmakers to represent machinists from across Florida, including regions such as the Kennedy Space Center, South Florida, and the Panhandle. Their primary objective was to influence policy decisions affecting union workers’ quality of life and to prepare for political engagement ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
