IAM Local 318 leader Joseph Rumrey, who represents Boston-based rail workers at Keolis, recently took part in a leadership training program held at the IAM Winpisinger Center in Hollywood, Maryland. The initiative is designed to provide about 14 union representatives from across the United States with practical skills for supporting their members.
The course places emphasis on developing expertise in claims writing and preparing for legal investigations. In addition to building individual capabilities, the training supports wider goals of the rail division, such as ensuring funding for commuter rail services and promoting the growth of high-speed rail infrastructure.
The effort reflects ongoing priorities within the union to strengthen advocacy for railroad workers through education and strategic planning.
