Locals and Districts of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Midwest Territory are organizing a “Salute to the Military” event during a Quad City Storm hockey game on Saturday, November 8, 2025. The event will take place at Vibrant Arena in Moline, Illinois.
The IAM Union Hockey Night will include activities such as Chuck-a-Puck, a live player jersey auction, and tributes to veterans. All proceeds from the evening will go to Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA | TLC), which is identified as the IAM Union’s preferred charity.
Prior to the hockey game, supporters can participate in a Paint the Ice event on Monday, November 3. This allows individuals to have a veteran’s name painted on the ice as recognition for their service.
The sponsorship for this event is organized by IAM Union Veteran Services, District 6, Locals 1728, 1010, 388, and 1191 serving as Goalie Sponsors; and Locals 254, 821, 1526, 1293, 1045, 1238, and 31 serving as Wingman Sponsors.
Checks for sponsorship should be made payable to GDA with “Hockey Game” indicated in the memo line. Payments are to be sent to IAM District 6 at their Des Moines address: 2000 Walker Street, Ste. JDes Moines, IA 50317.
“Salute to the Military” is part of ongoing efforts by IAM locals and districts in the Midwest Territory to support both veterans and charitable causes associated with their union.
