To allow for the next phase of work on the Interstate 25 and US Highway 50B Interchange project, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and SEMA Construction will implement overnight closures of I-25 in Pueblo. These closures are necessary to demolish the existing US 50B bridge over I-25.

According to CDOT Regional Transportation Director Shane Ferguson, “Removal of the US 50B bridge over I-25 is integral to advancing the I-25/US 50B interchange project. The closures are required to ensure the safety of work crews and the traveling public.”

The closure will begin on November 7. During this period, access at the interchange will continue to be limited to northbound I-25 on- and off-ramps until major construction milestones are reached. Drivers are advised to use CO 47 for connections between US 50B and I-25.

For those traveling southbound on I-25, a detour will direct motorists onto CO 47 (Exit 101), then along CO 96, Santa Fe Avenue, and back onto southbound I-25 at 13th Street (Exit 99B). Northbound travelers should exit onto eastbound US 50B (Exit 100A), follow CO 47 (Exit 318), and rejoin northbound I-25.

Motorists should expect changes in traffic patterns during this time as crews work on replacing infrastructure at one of Pueblo’s key highway interchanges.
