Overnight lane and ramp closures are planned this week on Interstate 25 in Lone Tree, Douglas County, as construction continues on the mobility hub project. Drivers should expect delays as traffic will be reduced to one or two lanes overnight, but all lanes will reopen before the morning commute.
Crews will be installing permanent barriers and re-striping interstate lanes to prepare for the construction of a pedestrian bridge over I-25. Motorists are advised to follow posted speed limits, maintain safe distances, and remain alert for workers and equipment.
Weather conditions have shifted the original schedule. The updated plan is as follows:
On Wednesday night, September 24, northbound I-25 between Castle Pines Parkway and Ridgegate Parkway will experience triple lane closures starting at 6 p.m., with only one lane open by 9 p.m. The northbound off-ramp to Lincoln Avenue and the westbound Ridgegate Parkway on-ramp to northbound I-25 will both close at 10 p.m., with detours provided via East County Line Road and South Peoria Street. Speed limits in this area will be reduced to 65 MPH. All lanes and ramps are expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Thursday.
On Thursday night, September 25, southbound I-25 from C-470 to Ridgegate Parkway will see double lane closures beginning at 7 p.m., reducing traffic to a single lane. Both Lincoln Avenue on-ramps to southbound I-25 will close—westbound at 6 p.m. and eastbound at 8 p.m.—with drivers detoured via South Peoria Street and Ridgegate Parkway. Speeds in southbound lanes will be limited to 55 MPH. Lanes and ramps should reopen by 6 a.m. Friday.
The project team plans to re-stripe both directions of I-25 into new configurations on Wednesday and Thursday nights for upcoming median work.
Additional closures affecting both directions of I-25 are scheduled for Sunday night, September 28.
“Motorists are urged to heed the speed limit, give plenty of following distance, and watch for crews and equipment.”
All scheduled work is part of ongoing efforts related to the mobility hub construction in Lone Tree.
