The Pennsylvania State Council of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) recently held its 2025 conference, where several updates and presentations were delivered to delegates.

President Rich Howell presented a report summarizing the event. Among the key speakers was IAM Chief of Staff Vinny Addeo, who addressed the political environment in Washington, D.C., and how it affects union members. Addeo emphasized the need for continued advocacy for union rights, stating that members must not be silenced.

Richie Johnsen, General Vice President for IAM Air Transport Territory, informed attendees that mechanics in the air transport sector—especially at American Airlines—are now earning more than $70 per hour. David Sullivan, General Vice President for IAM Eastern Territory, spoke about the organization’s efforts to defend member interests against attempts in Washington to undermine worker rights.

Delegates at the conference also gave strong support to Janelle Stelson, a pro-labor candidate running for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 10th district. The event included discussions on various topics such as union litigation, OSHA safety standards, strategies against anti-union campaigns, and community engagement projects.

The conference concluded with a call to action highlighting the importance of mobilizing union members to participate in upcoming elections by supporting pro-labor candidates and Supreme Court judges.
