The Sheridan Educators Association voted unanimously on April 24 to ratify a tentative agreement with the Sheridan School District. The agreement, which was announced late Thursday, passed with full approval from the association’s members.
The new contract includes several changes that address key union demands. Among these are a path for classified staff recognition, updates to district negotiating policies, and the reinstatement of a contract that will be in effect until December 2026.
Leaders from both SEA and the school district have indicated they want staff to return to classrooms on Monday, April 27. However, this return is contingent upon the Board of Education ratifying the agreement before Monday. Until then, the terms of the new contract will not take effect.
The Board’s next scheduled meeting is set for Tuesday, April 28. This timeline means that if an earlier vote does not occur before Monday, there may be a delay in teachers returning under the new agreement.
This development marks progress in negotiations between educators and district leadership as they work toward stability for both staff and students.
