The U.S. Census Bureau has released updated population estimates and projections extending to the year 2100 for 21 countries and areas as part of its International Database (IDB). The new release includes refined demographic data for countries such as Australia, Bangladesh, Barbados, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, El Salvador, Eswatini, Guatemala, Iran, Jamaica, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, Togo, Tunisia, the United States, and Zambia.
This update also features information for 13,671 subnational areas globally—comparable to states or counties in the United States—and enhanced mapping capabilities. The revisions are based on newly available data from censuses, surveys, administrative records and updated analyses derived from these sources.
The IDB offers estimates and projections on various demographic indicators including population size by sex and single year of age up to 100 years and older. It also covers components of change such as mortality rates, fertility rates and net international migration for over 220 countries and areas worldwide. The Census Bureau regularly updates this database when new data become available.
Population estimates and projections from the International Database can be accessed through the International Database Overview webpage.
