Leaders at UCHealth have acquired a 42-unit housing development in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, with an investment of nearly $30 million. The goal is to provide affordable and long-term housing for health care workers employed at Yampa Valley Medical Center. This move aims to address the ongoing challenge of finding affordable housing in the region and help recruit and retain staff.
The new development includes one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, offering employees stable living options close to their workplace. UCHealth states that reducing the burden of housing costs will help strengthen its workforce and maintain high-quality care for residents in Steamboat Springs.
Affordable housing remains a significant issue across many U.S. communities, particularly in ski resort areas where workers often struggle to find reasonably priced homes.
“By easing housing burdens, UCHealth aims to strengthen its workforce and ensure continued high-quality care for the Steamboat Springs community,” according to UCHealth leadership.
