The University of Colorado’s Excellence in Leadership Program (ELP) recently offered its participants a direct look at the workings of state government. On February 11, about 40 members of the current ELP cohort visited the Capitol to observe the legislative process.

The event is organized annually by CU’s State Government Relations team. Its purpose is to help participants understand how state policies are developed and how these policies can impact higher education in Colorado.

During the visit, attendees heard from leaders within CU and its partners. The presentations explained how CU’s Government Relations, legal, and budget teams work together to represent university interests at the state level.

Those interested in more details about the Excellence in Leadership Program can find information on the university’s website.
