The University of Colorado Board of Regents has approved plans for new student housing at the Boulder campus, advancing a project that aims to support student success, affordability, and sustainability. The decision was made during the board’s meeting on November 6 at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS).
The board authorized CU Boulder to enter into a public-private partnership with developer Morgan Stone Everett. This collaboration will lead to the construction of suite- and apartment-style student housing near Colorado Avenue and Regent Drive. The development is expected to accommodate approximately 1,650 students. Construction could begin as early as summer 2026, with an anticipated opening in fall 2028.
In addition to the housing initiative, regents approved the creation of a new bachelor of science degree in Integrated Business and Engineering (IBE). Developed jointly by the Leeds School of Business and the College of Engineering and Applied Science at CU Boulder, this program is designed to combine engineering analysis with business strategy. According to university officials, it will prepare graduates for leadership roles in technology-driven industries.
The board also honored Regent Emeritus Norwood “Robby” Robb by passing a resolution in memoriam following his death on August 22, 2025, at age 89. Robb served three terms after being elected in 1984 and held positions as both chair and vice chair during his tenure representing Colorado’s 6th Congressional District.
Seven faculty members were named CU Distinguished Professors this year: Kristen Carpenter, J.D.; Russell Cropanzano, Ph.D.; Marcia Douglas, Ph.D.; Noah Finkelstein, Ph.D.; Karl Linden, Ph.D.; Jade Morton, Ph.D.; and Marc Moss, M.D. They will be formally recognized at meetings in 2026.
The next regular meeting of the Board of Regents is scheduled for January 15, 2026.
