Motorists traveling on US Highway 160 between Elmore’s Corner and Silver Hills Road west of Bayfield should expect delays of up to 30 minutes from September 9 through September 26. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will conduct survey work along this stretch, which runs just west of County Road 223. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday, between the hours of 5 a.m. and 3 p.m.

CDOT crews will try to keep traffic moving in alternating directions during the project, but full stops and lane closures will be required at times for safety reasons.

“Crews will attempt to keep traffic alternating through the work zone however, full stops and lane closures will be necessary to safely perform the operations.”

Travelers between Durango and Bayfield are advised to plan for extra travel time during these dates. CDOT provides updates about road conditions and projects through its Highway Travel Alert Map, which details ongoing construction zones and expected delays.
