The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on Apr. 30 that paving operations will start May 4 on a one-mile section of US Highway 491 in the Town of Dove Creek, between County Road 8.2 and W 5th Street. Work is planned Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with lane shifts and flagging expected, but crews will attempt to keep two-way traffic moving throughout the project.
The department said additional repairs will take place on the Dove Creek Bridge, located south of N Colorado Ave, after the main paving work is completed. These repairs will require alternating one-lane traffic and could result in delays up to fifteen minutes.
During construction, motorists may encounter lane and intersection closures within the work zone as well as temporary closures or detours when entering or exiting driveways or side streets. The department advised that periodic traffic stops may occur for equipment movement and that all work is weather dependent.
