US 550 Red Mountain Pass closed for search and rescue operations

US 550 Red Mountain Pass was closed on August 5 to allow search and rescue teams to operate in the area, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). The closure is located at Mile Point 88.5.

Officials stated that the difficult terrain could extend the duration of the closure throughout much of the day. Motorists are being asked to find alternate routes during this period.

The closure alert is part of CDOT’s ongoing efforts to ensure safety during emergency operations. Updates will be provided as conditions change.
