The Vasquez Boulevard Improvements Project reached a significant milestone in late February with the completion of widening work along East 62nd Avenue between Vasquez Boulevard and Parkway Avenue, according to a March 16 announcement. The roadway has now reopened to through traffic, allowing business access from East 62nd Avenue.
This development is important for local transportation as it restores traffic flow and supports area businesses while broader improvements continue. Westbound drivers from East 62nd Avenue can currently only access northbound Colorado Highway 2 until median construction along Vasquez Boulevard is finished in summer 2026. Meanwhile, eastbound traffic enjoys full access through the roadway. The project has also completed the on and off ramps between Vasquez Boulevard and Colorado Highway 2 near East 63rd Avenue, with the right turn from northbound CO 2 onto eastbound East 63rd Avenue now open.
With this phase complete, work will shift to improvements within the Vasquez Boulevard median beginning March 16. Crews will operate between East 60th and East 64th avenues to install medians, curbs, gutters, guardrails, and prepare for new turn lanes and acceleration lanes. This construction will occur behind barriers with minimal impact on drivers; all north- and southbound lanes on Vasquez Boulevard will remain open but slightly realigned during this stage. Completion is expected by summer of next year.
